David began his Food and Beverage career as a Kosher Chef in the South African Army at the age of 18. After the army, he obtained a Hotel Management degree at the Cape Town Hotel School. His first position in the hospitality industry was the Outside Areas Food and Beverage Manager at Sol Kerzner’s Sun International Hotel in Sun City, South Africa, Sol Kerzner’s first premiere resort. Within six months, he transferred to that property’s Rooms Division as Assistant Front Office Manager. After two years, he accepted the position of Front Office Manager at The Peninsula Hotel located in Cape Town, South Africa.
Two years later David left the hospitality industry to explore the computer cabling business in which he had the opportunity to become owner of his own company, “New Millennium Networks.” An offer to become Operations Manager for Amtel Corporation took him to New York City. Throughout his career with the computer cabling business David always felt a strong desire to return to the hospitality industry. After spending three years in New York, he joined the banquet department’s opening team for the Watermark Hotel and Spa in San Antonio, Texas. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to Assistant General Manager of Las Canarias Restaurant at the La Mansion del Rio Hotel. Two years later, he was promoted, this time as General Manager of Pesca on the River (Watermark Hotel and Spa). David joined the management team of Mark’s American Cuisine as General Manager in June 2007. In His own Words: |
